It looks like it is going to be another great year to get outdoors up at Lukinto Lake Lodge this year.
We hope you all had a great 2013, and wish you nothing but wonderful things in 2014 , especially Health, Love , and Happiness .
Well some of you already know that Dan and I made a last minute decision to go to northern Alberta to work in the oil sands for the winter. It's not exactly what we had in mind this year, but had to be done and Dan is feeling better so we decided to do it.. So we won't be doing any major renovations as planned. We are only coming back in April. We thought the winters were cold in Ontario, but we have been working in -35 to +49 celsius pretty much since we got here. BRRRR!!!!!!
With that being said, we did accomplish some smaller renovations in 2013. Ashley gave the games room a makeover that was enjoyed by many. Mitch had fun giving the fish house a nice facelift. One of the three bathrooms in the shower house received some TLC. Dan was able to get the sauna up and going. It is a wonderful addition that feels great on a cool fall night. Cabin 8 was chinked and painted, as well as the shower house. All cabins except one got NEW mattresses. Dan added a section to the dock and Mitch made a scenic rock ledge for picture taking. We finally got a facebook page thanks to Mich. As you can see, since Mitch left for school, the page has been idle. We need to work on this. There is a comment section on the facebook page, as well as the website page, for those who would like to leave one.
The phone calls have already started. We already have five weeks that are completely sold out, and another 4 weeks that we only have one or two semi moderns left. So if you haven't booked yet, please don't wait too long.
Because of our jobs not finishing early, we won't be able to do some of the things we were hoping for 2014. Mind you, we will still be doing what we can. One of the biggest things we would like to do is putting hot water in the semi moderns. Staining of the decks and of course more paint. Ha Ha
Pricing will STAY THE SAME for cabin rentals and fishing packages, except the fact that the 5% will now be rolled in permanently. It has been in effect since 2007 and was always shown separately. I will also be rounding it off for my paperwork.
The Fishing Contest changed a little this year with the first place walleye being sponsored by BIG ZAC'S SHORE LUNCH SAC. Check out the link to their website from our web page.
Congratulations go out to Mark Lundeen! Fishing as you can see was fantastic again this year. We had quite the adventure , the week of our big Iowa group. Trying to make sure everyone caught fish and had fun. The week was a huge success.
Our bear hunt this year was awesome with Babes, Boars & Bows . All the women in camp went home with a boar. Two bears were harvested the first day and two again on the second. Some of our hunters decided it would be funner to fish than hunt and just have a good time. They all had a blast. Congratulations to all of you!!!!!!!
Finally the archery moose hunt came with a trophy Bull , measuring a whopping 50 3/4" taken by Dan Caissie. Funny story though, his daughter pointed out on a map where he should hunt before coming to the lodge, and sure enough that is where he harvested it. Some of the other hunters seen moose but were unable to call them in close enough for a kill shot. As for the rifle moose hunt, it also came with some success. One bull moose was taken by the verch group. Things were pretty quiet besides that during that week.
There are many great Ontario fishing and hunting opportunities up at Lukinto Lake Lodge. Huge Northern Pike! Fat Ontario Walleye! Exciting Ontario Black Bear Hunts! Trophy Moose and more! Awesome Ontario Fly-in Fishing Quality without the challenges and cost of actually flying there! Come on up and experience a wonderful Canada outdoor experience at an affordable price.
Take Care and God Bless.
