In 1968 he married his wife Cathy, whom he went to school with since 1957. They had 4 children; Marlyn in 1968, Jameson in 1970, Danny in 1975 and Amy in 1977.
Danny inherited Jody's love of the outdoors and spent a lot of time in Canada with Jody, until he was tragically killed in 1994. Jody and Cathy have 4 grandchildren. Matthew was born in 1990, Sadie in 1994 and Jaida in 2002, Wyatt Daniel in 2002. Cathy, who is a supervisor, has worked at the Sportsman's Guide for the past 16 years.
Jody is a printer by trade and began in high school in 1967. For 28 years he worked at a Winslow Printing Company in Minneapolis and this is where Jody met John Middaugh. They began to spend a lot of time together fishing and hunting. Jody first took John to Longlac in the mid 1980's to show him what great fishing there was and in 1999 Jody and John bought Lukinto Lake Lodge.
Jody is very knowledgable about the Longlac area. He first came to Longlac with his grandfather in 1959 and has made at least one annual trip, if not more, to Longlac for the past 40 years to fish and hunt. When not printing or working with Lukinto, Jody enjoys fishing and hunting. His experiences include fishing and hunting in Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan. He is an avid bowhunter in Minnesota and Wisconsin and has hunted and fished in Iowa, South Dakota, North Dakota and Montana.
Jody and Cathy also like to spend their winter vacation time in Mazatlan, Mexico. When he is on vacation in Mexico, Jody likes to golf, deep sea fish, go inland fishing for bass along with dove and duck hunting in the Sierra Madre Mountains.
